The 2005/06 season proved to be a breakthrough year for Michael Lindsay, breaking into 1st grade for the first time and performing like he belonged.
Starting the season in 3rd grade, Lindsay quickly established himself as a regular wicket-taker, highlighted by an impressive five-wicket haul in round 2. His consistent performances earned him a promotion to 2nd grade, where he continued to trouble opposition batsman, claiming regular wickets and producing consecutive three-wicket hauls in round 7 and 8.
His form was rewarded with an opportunity in 1st grade when injuries opened the door, and Lindsay found himself selected for the Limited Overs Grand Final against Campbelltown-Camden at Raby.
Defending a modest total, Lindsay played a crucial role in the premiership victory, making the perfect start with the ball by claiming the first two Campbelltown wickets and reducing the Ghosts to 2 for 7. He finished with excellent figures of 2-22 as Manly successfully defended their total to secure the title.
It was a remarkable rise through the grades for Lindsay, who finished the season with 31 wickets at 18, establishing himself as one of the clubs most promising players.
