Paul Brenner - A lasting legacy
Paul Brenner, alongside his father Bob, who served as the club’s long-standing secretary, was an integral part of the Manly Cricket Club throughout the 1990s and into the mid-2000s.
A talented local junior and accomplished top-order batsman, Paul represented the club with distinction across all grades. He amassed 5,625 runs at a commendable average of 27.1, including nine centuries.
His contributions included 11 appearances in 1st Grade during a particularly strong era for the club, where he recorded a highest score of 53.
With the ball, Paul also proved to be a useful off-spinner, taking 15 wickets with his subtle variations.
Paul is among a select group of Manly players to have reached the milestone of a double century, scoring an unbeaten 202 in 3rd Grade against Western Suburbs during the 2001/02 season.
He also shares the club record for the highest 3rd wicket partnership in 2nd Grade, a 195-run stand with Craig Glassock in the 2001/02 semi-final against Sutherland.
Beyond his statistical achievements, Paul made a lasting impact as a captain and senior figure in the lower grades, where he played a key role in mentoring younger players during their formative years in grade cricket. While a premiership eluded him, he was a regular contributor to finals campaigns and played a part in several Club Championship victories.
Paul’s dedication, leadership, and on-field success have left a lasting legacy at the Manly Cricket Club.
