Stags to Watch in 2026-27 - Jaylen Johnston

Jaylen Johnston is an emerging all-rounder representing the Stags in Sydney Premier Cricket. Originating from the Central Coast region, his steady progression through pathway programs and regional honours has established him as a key talent within New South Wales pathway systems.  

Johnston established his reputation in regional NSW, captaining Central Coast in youth competitions and delivering standout performances in the Central Coast First Grade competition.

He was selected to represent NSW Country at the U17 Australian Championships in Ballarat during January 2024 following strong outings in both local grade cricket and the U19 NSW Country Colts Championships.  

Johnston was named Player of the Tournament at the NSW U19 Country Championships while captaining Central Coast. He finished top of the tournament batting tables, scoring 222 runs at an average of 111.  

He was named in the squad to represent NSW Country at the U19 Australian Championships in Perth. During the tournament, he featured prominently as one of the team's top run-scorers, accumulating 145 runs.  

Johnston joined Gordon DCC's developmental structure, initially featuring in their A.W. Green Shield ("Greenies") setup before breaking into the senior ranks. As a middle-order batsman and left-arm orthodox spin bowler, he provides versatile all-round depth to Gordon's Premier Cricket squad, forcing his way into the first grade team during the 2025-25 season and playing some important knocks, with a top score of 65.

Expect to see him improve on that in the upcoming season.
