Matt Alexander - Manly Cricket

Matt Alexander, affectionately known as “Mattoes”, was an outstanding bowler for Manly throughout much of the 2010s.

A local junior, Matt progressed through all grades at the club and spent a period as a key member of the 1st Grade attack. A tall left-arm fast bowler, he was capable of generating significant pressure with the new ball and regularly gave his teams early breakthroughs by removing opposition top-order batsmen.

Matt finished his Manly career with 204 wickets at an impressive average of 20.34, including three five-wicket hauls. He was also a capable lower-order batsman, scoring 1,161 runs at an average of 16.

Following the 2017/18 season, Matt joined North Sydney to play alongside his brother Sam.

It was there that he produced some of the best cricket of his career, culminating in his selection in the Sydney Premier Cricket 1st Grade Team of the Season for 2019/20.

His combination of pace, height and ability to strike early made him an important contributor to Manly teams throughout his time at the club.
