Peter Procopis - leadership
Peter Procopis was a key higher-grade player for Manly throughout the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, culminating in his appointment as 1st Grade captain. Under his leadership, Manly secured the 2002/03 minor premiership and progressed to the semi-finals. He was also a member of multiple Club Championship-winning seasons.
A versatile and dependable batsman, Peter was capable of batting anywhere from number one through to seven. He scored 3,786 runs for the club from 178 innings, including two centuries and 18 half-centuries, with a highest score of 121. He was also an excellent fieldsman, taking 104 catches, while contributing nine wickets with the ball.
A student of the game, Peter’s leadership extended beyond his playing career. Following in the footsteps of Manly coaching figures such as David Patterson, Shawn Bradstreet and Matthew Phelps, he went on to run the cricket program at Narrabeen Sports High School, where he played an important role in nurturing the next generation of Manly cricketers.
More recently, Peter has continued his coaching career with Valley District Cricket Club in the Brisbane Premier Cricket competition.
