Sam Alexander was a major contributor to the Manly club throughout the 2010s.

A local junior and member of the incredibly strong 2009/10 Green Shield team, Sam progressed into senior cricket with Manly, initially playing 5th Grade before steadily working his way through the grades and eventually playing as high as 2nd Grade where he took a fivewicket haul in one of his early matches in 2’s.

An aggressive left-arm orthodox spinner, Sam took 193 wickets for Manly at an impressive average of 18.46. His ability to change matches with the ball was further highlighted by his 12 five-wicket hauls, placing him among the club’s most prolific wicket-takers in this regard.

Sam was a member of multiple Club Championship-winning seasons and played a key role in Manly’s 2017/18 4th Grade premiership, captained by his close friend Adam Gummer. In that season, Sam led the attack with 34 wickets at an outstanding average of 16.

Away from the field, Sam also served as Club Captain and was a driving force behind many of the club’s social activities.
Following the 2017/18 season, Sam moved to North Sydney in pursuit of higher-grade opportunities. The move proved successful, with him becoming a regular member of their top two grades and making multiple 1st Grade appearances.

After several years away from the Sydney Premier Cricket scene, Sam was selected in Mosman’s 1st Grade squad for their early-season T20 fixtures in the 2026/27 season, another significant achievement in an impressive cricket career
