Vale Denis Connell

It is with great sadness we learn of the passing on Friday night of Valley District Cricket Club Life Member and real character around the club Denis Connell.

Denis was born in Dalby in 1950 and was crippled by polio at an early age, he originally got around on crutches, but was later confined to a wheelchair.

Denis was VDCC 1st Grade scorer 1979/80 to 1989/90, Executive Committee member from 1980/81 to 1989/90, delegate to the Queensland Cricket Association (QCA) 1984/85 and 1985/86 and QCA grade committee 1981/82, 1984/85 to 1989/90.

He was awarded life membership of VDCC in 2002.

Denis was the official scorer for three Test matches, four One Day Internationals, 22 First class matches, and seven domestic One Day matches
